Peaceful Stays in Naxos: Our Favourite Hidden Gems

Peaceful Stays in Naxos: Our Favourite Hidden Gems

If you're looking for a peaceful, welcoming place to stay in Naxos, whether for a long holiday or a short escape, we found two spots we’d book again without hesitation.

When we set off for Naxos in June 2024, we anticipated stunning beaches and the iconic charm of a Greek island, but what made the trip truly unforgettable was the peacefulness and warmth we experienced. Our time on the island was defined by two memorable stays: one thoughtfully planned, the other a delightful surprise.

A Calm and Comfortable Retreat: Eclipse Studios / Orama Studios, Agia Anna

Our first base was in Agia Anna, where we stayed for almost a month at Eclipse Studios, a newly built, plush block owned by a family member of the Orama Studios team. Although we were technically in Eclipse, we had full access to the facilities at Orama Studios, which gave us the best of both worlds.

Tucked just a short walk from the soft, golden sands of Agia Anna Beach, the complex comprises three buildings: Orama 1, Orama 2, and Eclipse Studios. The vibe was peaceful and laid-back, and the beach itself was a highlight, with calm, clear waters perfect for lazy swims, with a relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to linger all day.

Agia Anna, once a traditional fishing village, has grown into a small, serene resort with plenty of character. It’s dotted with beachfront tavernas and friendly local spots. One of our favourites was Oregano, a family-run souvlaki place just down the road. Delicious food, good wine, and all very reasonably priced.

Despite its quiet feel, Agia Anna is incredibly convenient. Shops and eateries are within walking distance, and buses to Naxos Town (Chora), just 6 km away, run frequently during high season.

Sea Views, Slow Mornings, and Friendly Faces

Our studio was perfect, simple, clean, and spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen and a balcony that overlooked the sea. Morning coffee with that view quickly became one of our favourite daily rituals.

The pool at Orama was another standout: always clean, never crowded, and a lovely place to cool off after a beach day or island outing. Daily cleaning service kept our space tidy, and having a kitchenette gave us the flexibility to cook simple meals when we felt like staying in.

But what really set our stay apart was the personal touch. Ionna, the owner, along with her family, welcomed us with warmth and genuine hospitality. Their friendly dog, Roger, became a familiar face, always ready with a wagging tail. From the smooth car hire experience to the port transfers, every detail felt thoughtful and easy.

We left Eclipse feeling rested, cared for, and already planning our return. It was the kind of place that doesn’t just feel like a holiday, it feels like home.

Finding Peace by the Sea: Panoramic View Studios, Agios Prokopios

After leaving Agia Anna, we thought our time on Naxos had come to an end, but a cancelled ferry had other plans. We ended up spending four unexpected nights at Panoramic View in Stelida, near Agios Prokopios. And honestly, it turned out to be a beautiful surprise.

Located on the quieter end of Agios Prokopios Beach, Panoramic View offered a welcome sense of calm and relaxation. Just a couple of minutes’ walk from the property, the beach is often named one of the best on Naxos, and it’s easy to see why. With its golden sand and turquoise water, it’s absolutely breathtaking.

A Warm Welcome and Sunset Views

We booked Panoramic View  at the very last minute at around 7 pm. When we arrived, our room wasn’t quite ready, but the owner greeted us with a big smile and said she’d have everything prepared within half an hour. She let us unload our heavy bags and pointed us towards a lovely little taverna across the road. Cold beers and a quiet spot to unwind made the short wait feel like part of the experience.

Room With a View

Our studio was light, clean, and had everything we needed. Best of all was the balcony, where evenings were spent sipping ouzo and watching the colours shift over the sea.

There aren’t many tavernas right nearby, but a 5-minute walk (past the unique pink salt lakes!) brings you to the heart of Agios Prokopios with its shops, restaurants, and big supermarket. One tip: if you're heading out at night, bring a torch for the walk back!

While the beach here is stunning, families with small kids might prefer the slightly more sheltered Agia Anna Beach just down the coast. Also, keep in mind the nearest bus stop is about a 15-minute walk away if you’re planning trips to Chora.

Although it was a last-minute booking, Panoramic View turned out to be the tranquil retreat we never knew we needed, quiet, simple, and warmly welcoming.

Naxos: A Place to Return To

Between our two stays, Eclipse in Agia Anna and Panoramic in Agios Prokopios, we experienced two slightly different resorts on Naxos Island that complemented each other perfectly.

While both offered peace, beauty, and a warm welcome, we enjoyed Agia Anna more. Its location felt more convenient, and the atmosphere at Orama Studios had a more homely, familiar feel that stayed with us.

Whether you're planning your dream Greek island holiday or just looking for somewhere to recharge, we couldn’t recommend both places more. Naxos is a destination that rewards slow travel, and we’re already dreaming of our next visit.
